«Cost» = price × (commission + gateway) + fixed gateway fee. «Monthly» adds the fixed fee. Werop's 12 % has VAT separately (deductible for an active store); Etsy and Miravia also calculate their commission on shipping, which is not included here. Zalando and Miravia do not publish their rates: these are estimates from industry sources (September 2026), with links in the commission comparison. Vinted Pro is mainly a second-hand platform, with no known selling commission. Advertising, platform logistics, free returns at the brand's expense, or profit taxes are not included.
What the calculator does not include
The numbers above are direct costs per sale. What truly differentiates one marketplace from another is outside the table: on Amazon and Zalando, returns are free for the buyer for 30 days and paid by the brand; on Werop, the legal period is 14 days, the return label is paid by the buyer if they change their mind, and the commission is fully refunded. Zalando often requires advertising on its platform; Werop has no paid advertising. And on Werop, payment to the buyer is only made when the store confirms it has the item.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Werop's 12 % include?
Card payment (Stripe), the shipping label requested by the panel, the store page, AI-powered photos and listings, and the virtual fitting room. There is no monthly fee, no listing fee, and no paid advertising. VAT is applied to the 12 %, which an active store can deduct.
Why doesn't Werop charge commission on shipping?
Because the buyer pays for shipping at cost: Werop passes it on without margin (and the store contributes what is missing up to the real cost, a few cents for domestic shipping). On Miravia or Etsy, the commission is also calculated on shipping.
Where do the figures for other marketplaces come from?
From their official pages when published (Amazon, Etsy, Vinted) and from industry sources when not (Zalando, Miravia), dated September 2026 and linked in the comparison. Where there is a range, the average value is used and stated. The calculator does not include advertising, platform logistics, or free returns at the brand's expense.
What happens to the commission if the buyer returns the item?
On Werop, it is fully refunded. On Amazon, it is refunded minus a processing fee; on Zalando, it is not published; on Etsy, the transaction fee is refunded, not the listing fee.
