Shipping costs: what you pay, what the shopper pays and what Werop puts in

Werop handles transport with a single carrier account for all shops and passes on the cost without making anything from it. Here are the rates by zone, your contribution, returns and the numbers compared with selling on your own.

In short

How a shipment works

1

The shopper pays for shipping along with the garment

A public rate depending on the zone: €4.95 if your shop is in their country. If they buy from several shops, they pay the full rate for the first parcel and a reduced rate for each additional shop (€2.95 domestically). Werop receives that money and pays the carrier.

2

You pack the parcel and download the label

From the dashboard, entering the weight. The label shows your workshop as the sender. You drop the parcel off at the carrier's drop-off point and the shopper follows the shipment from their account, without you having to copy tracking numbers.

3

Your contribution is deducted from your payout

What the shopper pays, excluding VAT, doesn't quite cover the cost of the parcel. You contribute the difference: it is deducted together with the commission, with its VAT (which you can deduct). You don't pay anything separately or receive invoices from the carrier.

Rates by zone

The zone depends on your shop's country and the shopper's country. What the shopper pays includes VAT; your contribution is net and is exactly the gap between what comes in from that rate excluding VAT and what the parcel costs (up to 2 kg).

Costs measured with Spain as the origin (1 kg parcel, October 2026). Shipments between any other two countries are treated as «Distant Europe» until they are measured. If costs go down (more volume, pick-up points), your contribution goes down.

Why is €4.95 + €0.26 more than €4.35? Because the €4.95 the shopper pays includes VAT: €0.86 goes to the tax authority and Werop receives €4.09. Added to your €0.26, that comes to exactly the €4.35 the parcel costs. Your contribution also carries VAT (€0.05), which is paid in the same way and which you can deduct. The calculation is always done excluding VAT, which is how Werop pays the carrier. The only thing that can be left over is small and planned for: each zone's reference cost is that of the most expensive destination measured in it (in «Nearby Europe», France costs €8.79 and Germany €8.27), and that remainder covers slightly heavier parcels, surcharges and countries not yet measured. In the domestic zone nothing is left over.

When the shopper buys from several shops

Two shops in their country cost the shopper €7.90 in shipping, not €9.90: the second parcel goes at a reduced rate so that adding a garment from another shop doesn't put them off. What is missing up to the cost of the two parcels is covered by the shops in the basket in equal shares: the contributions for all the parcels are added up (€0.26 + €1.91) and split (€1.09 each). No shop pays for what the customer bought from another.

The reduced rate only applies if there is at least €25 of goods from that shop. Below that, its parcel goes at the full rate for the shopper (a €10 accessory costs the same to deliver as a coat) and the contribution is the first-parcel one.

An example with a €40 garment

What the shopper pays

€40.00 for the garment + €4.95 shipping = €44.95. Werop collects the shipping and pays the carrier.

What is deducted from you

Commission: €4.80 (12%) + €1.01 of VAT.
Shipping contribution: €0.26 + €0.05 of VAT.
Total: €6.12, with €1.06 of deductible VAT.

What you receive

€33.88 in your account. Of that, €6.94 is the garment's VAT, which you pay to the tax authority: your net sale is €33.06 and selling on Werop has cost you €5.06, or 15.3%.

Under the Spanish equivalence surcharge scheme (recargo de equivalencia) the VAT on the commission and the contribution cannot be deducted: the cost rises to 18.5%.

Selling on your own or selling on Werop

The same €40 garment, shipped from your workshop. On your own, you pay for the parcel (or pass it on) and for card payments; on Werop you pay the commission and your contribution. Neither column includes advertising to win the customer: on your own you pay for it; on Werop the marketplace provides it.

Percentages of the sale excluding VAT (€33.06 for a €40 garment). The «on your own» column uses the same parcel cost Werop pays, which is that of a volume contract; a small shop usually pays more. For another country, the difference is that on Werop the shopper pays for the international parcel and you only pay your contribution.

Returns and free shipping

If the shopper changes their mind

They have 14 days. They download the return label from their account and pay for it at cost (€5.26 including VAT domestically), deducted from their refund. You cover the outbound shipment at cost (€4.35), because the law requires it to be refunded to them. Werop makes nothing on either label.

If the garment arrived in bad condition

Faulty or different from what was ordered: the shopper gets a full refund and you pay for the return label at cost (€4.35 domestically). It is your responsibility as the seller, just as in your own shop.

Free shipping above the amount you choose

You set it up in «My shop», separately for your country and for the others. You pay what the shopper saves on your parcel (€4.95 domestically) plus your contribution.

Parcels over 2 kg

You declare the weight when creating the label and the difference in cost is added to your contribution. In fashion it is rare: a long coat or boots in a box.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to hire a carrier to sell on Werop?

No. Werop has a single shipping account for all shops. When an order comes in, you generate the label from the dashboard by entering the parcel weight and drop it off at a nearby drop-off point. Tracking and the return label are also handled by Werop.

How much do I pay for shipping on each order?

The gap between what the shopper pays (excluding VAT) and what the parcel costs: €0.26 on a shipment within your country and between €0.57 and €1.01 to another country. If the shopper buys from several shops, the contributions for all the parcels are added up and split in equal shares: with two Spanish shops, €1.09 each. It is deducted from your payout, with VAT, just like the commission.

Does Werop make money on shipping costs?

No. What the shopper pays excluding VAT (€4.09 of the €4.95 on a domestic shipment; the remaining €0.86 is VAT that goes to the tax authority) plus the shop's contribution (€0.26) is exactly what Werop pays the carrier in that zone (€4.35). That is why, if you add up the figures including VAT, it looks like there is something left over: what is left over is the VAT. Werop's only income is the 12% commission.

What happens if my parcel weighs more than 2 kg?

The rates cover parcels of up to 2 kg, which is normal in fashion. If an order weighs more (a long coat, boots in a box), you declare the weight when creating the label and the difference in cost is added to your contribution.

Can I offer free shipping in my shop?

Yes, above the amount you choose, separately for orders from your country and from other countries. You pay what the shopper saves (€4.95 on a domestic shipment) plus your contribution; Werop makes nothing from it.

Who pays for returns?

If the shopper changes their mind (withdrawal, 14 days), they pay for the return label at cost and you cover the outbound shipment at cost (€4.35 on a domestic shipment), because the law requires it to be refunded to them. If the garment arrived faulty or wasn't the one ordered, you also pay for the return label at cost (€4.35). Werop makes nothing on either.

Where are these terms?

In the seller terms (sections 6.6 and 6.9 of the terms and conditions). The reference costs are measured with Spain as the origin; those for shops in other countries will be adjusted with real measurements and, if they change, we will notify you 15 days in advance, as required by the EU platform regulation.
