Amazon, Zalando, El Corte Inglés, Miravia, ABOUT YOU and Etsy, compared using the information each one publishes: commission, fees, who can get in, which countries they sell in, which returns they require and when you get paid.
Updated on 6 October 2026

What you should know about each one
Amazon
The most open and the one with the most shoppers. Since 15 December 2025 cheap clothing pays less (5% up to €15 and 10% up to €20), but a garment from a small brand usually costs more than €20 and pays 15%, plus the Professional plan fee. The brand's own page (Brand Store and A+ content) requires Brand Registry, with a trademark registered or applied for at the OEPM or the EUIPO. Amazon checks that your price isn't higher than elsewhere and can remove the featured offer from you.

Zalando
Europe's big fashion specialist, designed for brands with structure. Its commissions are only visible with a partner login; its public rules (version 13, in force since 1 July 2026) do make the conditions clear: an approved technical integrator (or its own interface, which requires its logistics and is limited to 200 items per season), an EAN for each size, free shipping and returns for the shopper and 30 days to return (the 100-day tolerance ended on 31 December 2025). In 2026 it stopped accepting new brands on its brand page and, according to the trade press, it is closing Connected Retail, the programme for physical shops: since September 2026 everyone pays the general fees.

El Corte Inglés
It publishes no terms at all for sellers: no commission, no fees, no requirements. Access is by contact and, according to the agencies that integrate shops into it, it is aimed at sellers with large stock. What is public is what the shopper sees: for marketplace products there are 14 days to return (compared with 60 for the fashion El Corte Inglés sells directly), with home collection only and no returns in physical stores.
Sources checked on 27 September 2026: returns help page. Delivery only to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands comes from its former marketplace help pages, now withdrawn.
Miravia
Alibaba's marketplace for Spain, with no fee and a public commission table (11% in womenswear, 13% in menswear and kids). The commission is calculated on the price including VAT and shipping. It sells in Spain and Portugal and, since July 2026, it is being integrated into AliExpress, according to the press. The sign-up form requires you to be a European company, with a tax ID and company registration; the official store is for brands only. According to its terms of sale, the seller bears all return costs.

ABOUT YOU
A young-fashion specialist, very strong in Germany and central Europe. It publishes a commission table that rises with the price: in womenswear, 4% below €35 and 18% above €100 (in menswear, up to 22%), on the price including VAT, plus a payment fee each seller sees in their settlement. It requires dispatch within 24 hours with its carriers; with your own shipping you reach just over half of its market and the rest requires its warehouse in Germany. It pays once a month and at the start holds back 63.48% of your earnings for 60 days.

Etsy
There is no prior vetting, but it only accepts what you make or design yourself (you can manufacture with a workshop if you say so) and vintage; resold clothing is prohibited. The fees add up: $0.20 per listing, 6.5% per sale, 4% + €0.30 for payment and 0.88% in Spain, almost all on price and shipping. Its advertising on other websites charges 15% of the sale it brings in; it is optional up to $10,000 in sales a year and mandatory after that, at 12%.

How to read this comparison
The commission is only part of it
Mandatory free returns, a reserve of 60% of your sales for two months or a technical integrator that charges separately can weigh more than three points of commission. Do the maths with one of your real garments, its price and your return rate.
Check whether you can get in, not just whether it suits you
Amazon and Etsy accept almost anyone. Miravia requires you to be a company, Zalando demands technical integration and an assortment that fits, and El Corte Inglés works by contact. For a brand that is starting out, that door often matters more than the price.
Does your brand stand out or get lost?
On the general marketplaces your garment is just one listing among thousands, and having your own page requires a registered trademark or advertising. If what you sell is a way of making clothes, look for a place where your shop has a face.
Where Werop fits
For brands starting out
You join as self-employed or as a company, with no integrator or mandatory EAN and no fee. If you don't sell one month, you pay nothing.
Your shop, with your face
Your own page with your logo, colours, background, featured items and collections, with no registered trademark or advertising needed.
Eight countries with a single rate
Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Portugal, with the same 12% + VAT in all of them.
Paid through Stripe, with no reserves from Werop
The amount of each confirmed sale goes to your account with the commission already deducted.
What Werop doesn't have yet: shoppers. It is in pre-launch and will open to the public once there are enough brands; the big marketplaces have millions of visits today. Nor does it offer a warehouse or its own logistics: you ship.
Frequently asked questions
Which fashion marketplace charges the lowest commission?
It depends on the garment's price. On Amazon, clothing up to €15 pays 5%, but above €20 it rises to 15% and there is a fee of €39 a month. On ABOUT YOU the published commission ranges from 4% on cheap garments to 18–22% above €100. Miravia charges 11% in womenswear and 13% in menswear and kids, with no fee. Zalando and El Corte Inglés do not publish their commissions. Werop charges 12% plus VAT on the garment's price, with no fee.
Can a small brand sell on Zalando or El Corte Inglés?
It's possible, but demanding. Zalando requires you to pass its verification, connect through an approved technical integrator, agree the assortment with the platform and offer free shipping and returns to the shopper; since September 2026 it has also been closing its programme for physical shops (Connected Retail). El Corte Inglés does not publish terms for sellers: access is by direct contact and, according to its former help pages, its marketplace only delivers to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.
Which marketplaces can you sell on as a self-employed person?
On Amazon, Etsy and Werop you can sell as a self-employed person. ABOUT YOU accepts it in its onboarding guide as an individual with a registered business. Miravia's sign-up form asks for the company tax ID and registration. Zalando accepts the tax number of individuals in its verification. El Corte Inglés does not publish requirements.
Who pays for returns on fashion marketplaces?
On Amazon, in fashion, the seller must offer free returns for 30 days. Zalando requires free shipping and returns, with 30 days to return. Miravia, according to its 2024 terms, charges the seller all return costs. On Werop the shopper has the legal 14-day right of withdrawal and Werop gives them the return label: if they change their mind, its cost is deducted from the refund; if the garment arrives faulty or wrong, the shop pays for it. The garment and the outbound shipping are always refunded.
Is Werop already open?
Not yet. In October 2026 Werop is in pre-launch: shops in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Portugal can already sign up and prepare their catalogue, and sales to the public will begin once there are enough brands. Until then there are no sales.
